Supported Devices on 'esemail'
Mobile device choice is often a very personal thing where 'one-size' doesn't fit all. With ‘esemail’ your users can access their Email and PIM data from a very wide range of devices all sharing a common user interface. This significantly enhances ease of use when they wish to switch between devices. The Wireless Email element of ‘esemail’ is licenced by each named user. This enables your mobile workforce to configure multiple devices based on their business and personal needs. For example, they may like to use a mobile phone whilst travelling but a Laptop or Tablet PC when they arrive at their destination. Or even carry a PDA type device during the week and then swap their SIM card to a compact mobile phone at the weekend. There is no additional charge from us for enabling this.
Symbian™ Series 60/80/UIQ

In general Symbian devices offer exceptional voice functionality coupled with increasingly versatile data communication features. The latest Symbian Series 60 devices include the Nokia E-Series family which are targeted at the business professional. The flagship Nokia E61 includes a very usable ‘QWERTY’ keyboard and has 3G as well as WiFi connectivity to make email use fast and seamless. Other supported models in the E Series range include the Nokia E50, E60, E70 phones. Both the E60 and E70 support 3G and Wifi whilst the E70 features a unique fold-out keyboard and a 2 Mega-pixel camera.
Other Symbian Series 60 phones supported include the Nokia N7x, N8x and N9x range.
Symbian Series 80 devices supported include the Nokia 9300, 9300i and 9500 Communicator products.
The UIQ platform is primarily used by Sony Ericsson devices such as the P9XX range. The P910 is currently supported and we hope to be able to support newer phones such as the P990 and M600i soon
Windows Mobile®

There are many providers of Windows Mobile devices, all offering a diverse selection of shapes, sizes and features to provide a wide range of functionality from advanced mobile computing to simple email alerting.
The esemail service supports all the latest Windows Mobile 5 devices together with older Pocket PC and SmartPhone versions – with the same look and feel of user interface across all devices. By using the native email client of the device, the esemail interface is seamless allowing the emails to simply appear in your device inbox providing full attachment download and editing as required to maximise your business efficiency. Should the device be enabled with WiFi connectivity and available at connection time, the esemail application will automatically select the fastest communication method, potentially saving mobile communication costs.
Specific software versions supported include Windows Mobile Pocket PC 2003, Windows Mobile Smartphone 2003, Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC and Windows Mobile 5 Smartphones.
Examples of devices currently available in the UK include the iMate K Jam, misc. HTC devices, O2 XDA, T-Mobile MDA, Orange SPVand the Vodafone Palm Treo 700.
Windows 2000/XP

The Notebook PC is still the most widely used mobile device for remote access to corporate information. When combined with a WiFi network and increasingly a mobile GPRS/3G datacard, a Notebook or Tablet PC can easily access the Internet. Using the esemail service increases the efficiency of mobile email access by avoiding the download of large attachments with each synchronisation. By default on a GPRS/3G dialup connection the first 5KB of each message is retrieved. Attachments and large messages can then be downloaded as and when needed thereby minimising connection times and keeping data costs down.
Device Management can also be enabled to perform hardware and software asset management, automatically deliver time sensitive documents as well as remotely install any required critical software updates. The esemail service may remove the need to enable a dedicated VPN, or slow dialup links mobile access to email and PIM data. This also eases bandwidth on your own networking infrastructure.
Palm OS

The Palm® OS is well known to many users who’ve grown accustomed to and enjoy its simple and effective user interface. Using the esemail service Palm devices are easily synchronised ‘over the air’ with email and PIM data using the native device interface. Functionality has all the features you would expect include meeting acceptance and full attachment handling and editing.
The esemail service works at its best on a ‘one-piece’ solution such as the Palm Treo 650 or 680 yet can still be used effectively on a handheld PDA such as the Palm Tungsten when connected through a compatible mobile phone using Bluetooth.
