PC / Workgroup Monitor Setup

Overview of PC Monitor
Using PC Monitor in conjunction with the ‘esemail’ service, you can automatically send Exchange or Domino Email/PIM data to devices such as wireless Pocket PCs and Palm OS phones. When a new e-mail message arrives, PC Monitor routes that e-mail to the hosted server which pushes the message to your mobile device.
You can also use this computer to monitor multiple e-mail accounts simultaneously. Unless you are setting up a PC Monitor for a single user we would recommend using a dedicated PC not only for performance but also for greater reliability. The e-mail messages that pass through the network are extremely secure. All data is encrypted to 128bit AES encryption standard between the PC Monitor and the mobile device.

To correctly install and configure PC Monitor carry out the following:

1. Check Pre-requisites

2. Set up a Courier Account (if applicable):

-For Exchange 2003
-For Exchange 2000
-For Exchange 5.5

3. Install PC Monitor software for:

-Microsoft Exchange Workgroup
-Microsoft Exchange Single User
-Lotus Notes / Domino

Pre-requisites for the PC Monitor
Before you install PC Monitor, you should make sure that your system meets the following requirements.

Setting up a Courier Account
We strongly recommend setting up a ‘Courier Account’ that can be used to monitor all email accounts for the esemail service. Many organisations have a regular password change mechanism which can cause problems if a Courier Account isn’t used. In summary this account needs full mailbox access rights to all accounts that will be using the esemail service. This account should also be a local administrator on the PC Monitor system.

For Exchange 2003 -

  1. In Exchange System Manager, select Action->Delegate Control.

  2. Add your courier user as an Exchange Full Administrator.

  3. In Active Directory Users, open the Properties of the courier user and go to Exchange Advanced->Mailbox Rights.

Installing PC Monitor for Exchange
As discussed above, we strongly recommend using a Courier Account with a PC Monitor in Workgroup mode. This Courier Account user needs to be a Local Administrator on the PC Monitor system as well as having an Outlook profile configured and enabled. If you are installing a standalone PC Monitor for a single user that user needs to be a local administrator.

Log in to the PC Monitor machine as the Courier Account user (or as the individual for a single user installation) and verify you can open Outlook and access email as that user.

Open your Internet browser, connect to https://saturn.intelli-mail.net and login as the first user you wish to configure for esemail. Click on 'setup account' and then 'Add PC Monitor'.
